CyKey Installation to Palm™ OS

Installing the application.
1. On your computer, copy the approriate application Cykey.prc into the add-on folder in your Palm Desktop directory on your computer.
2. Double-click the Palm Desktop icon on your desktop.
3. Click Install.
4. In the User drop-down list, select the name that corresponds to your handheld device.
5. Click Add.
6. Select the CykDrv application to install on your handheld.
7. Click Open.
8. Click Done.
9. Perform a HotSync operation to install the application.

If you need to unload the previous CyKey application (you may have CyKey 2 icons) then go to >applications then > menu then >delete select the appropriate application and select>delete >done

You are now ready to use your CyKey with your Palm™ OS handheld device.

CyKey Usage With Palm™ OS Devices

After successful installation of the CyKey application, a new Icon will be visible on your Palm™ OS Device.  The application is titled CyKey.  Tap on the application Icon, your Palm™ OS Device will respond with a "CyKey Driver Loaded" message.  After confirmation of this message, you can begin to use your CyKey with your Palm™ OS Device.  To unload the CyKey driver, tap the CyKey application icon once again, and your Palm™ OS Device will respond with "CyKey Driver Unloaded" message.
Note: Your Palm™ OS Device will not perform a HotSync with the CyKey driver loaded.  Tap the application Icon to unload (switch off) the CyKey driver BEFORE performing a HotSync or deleting the application.

CyKey Tips For Palm™ OS Devices

Your CyKey uses Infra Red light to communicate with your Palm™ OS handheld device.  The orientation of the two devices when in use will affect the overall performance.  There are many different Palm™ OS devices, each having different locations for the Infra Red receiving device.  Your Palm™ OS handheld manual will refer to this receiving device as an IR (infrared) Port, IRDA Port, or Beaming Port dependant on the model.

The CyKey transmits Infra Red light from the top of the device, this light must be "seen" by the Palm™ OS handheld device.  Infra Red light will be reflected by most surfaces, so if your Palm™ OS handheld device has it's IR Port on the top of the device, simply arranging your CyKey and Palm™ OS handheld device to both face the same object will be sufficient for the light from your CyKey to be reflected into the Palm™ OS handheld device IR Port.
